Process
How It Works
Using The Insolvency Directory is straightforward: search by location or service, compare regulated firms, ask for an introduction through our matching form, and speak to a licensed professional. We never pretend to be your adviser — we introduce you to licensed professionals and publish general information.
In England and Wales, personal insolvency solutions include IVAs, bankruptcy and Debt Relief Orders. Different rules apply in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Four steps
- Search your location. Enter a city, town or postcode, or browse the directory by region.
- Compare advisers. Review firm profiles, services and publicly available information.
- Submit your case. Answer eight short questions. We do not put personal contact details in the URL.
- Get help. A matched regulated adviser can contact you to discuss options — without this site giving personal advice.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to create an account?
- No consumer account is required to browse or start the matching form. Firm owners use a separate claim/login flow.
- Will you sell my data?
- Contact details collected at the end of the wizard are shared only with matched firms for the purpose of contacting you about your enquiry, as described in our privacy notice.
- Is the consultation free?
- Many firms offer a free initial conversation, but fee arrangements after that are between you and the firm. Always ask what is free and what is charged.
- Can I use free advice instead?
- Yes — and we encourage it. MoneyHelper, StepChange, National Debtline and Citizens Advice provide free regulated debt advice.
- What if there are no firms in my area?
- We only publish city pages with enough real listings. You can still use the national matching form or free advice services.
